The Director of the Uganda Virus Research Institute, Professor Kaleebu Pontiano, is scheduled to give a keynote address exploring the advancement of regional vaccine manufacturing and access in Africa.
He is a renowned international researcher in the areas of immunology and virology. He is also a member of the international team that took part in the first vaccine trial in Africa against HIV/AIDS.
His main research interests are viral vaccine research, including understanding protective immune responses in relation to viral diversity, transmission, and disease progression.
The Guest of Honour for the event will be Hon. Dr. Monica Musenero Musanza, a Senior Presidential Advisor on Epidemics and Uganda's Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation. She is a highly skilled consultant and scientist who specialized in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Biology. Dr. Musenero has extensive national and international experience, including research on vaccine development. She brings her expertise in these areas to the discussion on advancing regional vaccine manufacturing and access in Africa.
