Today the President met at his Rwakitura home with a delegation led by the Hon. Minister of Health, which included the UVRI team led by the Director Prof Pontiano Kaleebu, a team of Oxitec led by its CEO, Dr. Grey Frandsen, and Mr. Echodu Calvin, the Founder and Executive Director of Pilgrim Uganda.
They discussed the interest in Oxitec to partner with the Ministry of Health and the Uganda Virus Research Institute in particular to develop self-limiting and non-persistent mosquitoes to fight malaria. The UVRI delegation included Dr. Jonathan Kayondo, head of the Entomology Department. The MOH team included Dr. Joseph Okware, Director of Governance and Regulation, while Oxtec's team included Chief Strategy Officer Dr. Neil Morrison.
