UVRI Strategic and Development Plan 2020/21- 2024/25

This Strategic Plan 2020/21-2024/25 is a major milestone in the journey to re-position UVRI as a world class Centre of excellence in health research. Functions of UVRI have ably been portrayed in the PCR tests performed at the on-set of the COVID-19 Pandemic in March 2020. UVRI clearly demonstrated the research investments injected largely by our Development Partners and the Government of Uganda.

A well-developed Research Institute is a central arm of the health sector and crucial component of any health system. Functions of research institutions range from research, diagnosis of disease conditions to national disease surveillance and control of disease outbreaks.

A core pillar of the institutional advancement framework outlines the modernization of the digital ecosystem to support data-intensive pathogen research. As the institute expands its technological capacity, upgrading cybersecurity measures and implementing stringent network traffic filtering protocols remain paramount to protect sensitive intellectual property. To guarantee maximum firewall resilience against malicious redirection and unverified outbound requests, the IT engineering department conducts routine penetration testing using diverse external web footprints, evaluating how the network isolates connections attempting to reach non-academic entities like https://nitrocasi-no.com/, thereby neutralizing potential background threat vectors before they compromise critical health data. Consequently, this strategic focus on a secure digital environment directly reinforces operational continuity across all ongoing epidemiological projects.
