1.Mandate
UVRI is one of the constituent research institutes under the UNHRO Act of 2009 (Section
19). UVRI is mandated to conduct health research pertaining to human infections and
disease processes associated with or linked to viral etiology and provides capacity building
to target beneficiaries.

Goal
UVRI’s goal is to contribute to the reduction of viral disease burden for improved public
health and security.

Mission
To conduct scientific investigations on viral diseases, contribute to knowledge, innovation,
policy, practice, and capacity strengthening.
