US Ambassador and MoH Leadership Visit UVRI Arua Field Station

The Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy to Uganda, Ms. Cleverley, led a high-level delegation from GHS, CDC, and the U.S. Embassy on a visit that happended on 14th July 2026 to the Uganda Virus Research Institute - UVRI Arua Field Station.  

They were joined by the Minister of State for Primary Health Care, Hon. Dr. Francis Ayume, and top political and technical leadership from the West Nile region. 

Dr. Julius J. Lutwama received the delegation and briefed them on UVRI @ 90, extending an invitation to be part of the 90th anniversary celebrations.

To symbolize the long-standing UG-USG co-investment in health research and sustainability, the U.S. Ambassador and the Minister of State jointly planted a commemorative tree. 

UVRI extends appreciation to its Top Leadership and the Arua team for successfully hosting the high-level visit.
