231 samples tested for COVID -19 at the Uganda Virus Research Institute today have been confirmed Negative.

231 samples tested for COVID -19 at the Uganda Virus Research Institute on 6th April 2020 have been confirmed Negative.

The total number of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Uganda still stands at 52 and all are in stable condition, according to a press release from the Ministry of Health.

The Director General of Health Services Dr Henry Mwebesa says the cumulative total number of samples tested at UVRI stands at 3,160.

Dr Mwebesa adds that a total of 657 are under institutional quarantine while 855 contacts to the confirmed cases are under follow up.

The Ministry of Health is undertaking intensive activities to trace and test all people who travelled from abroad between 7th and 22nd March 2020.  

The Ministry of Health continues to appeal to the public to remain calm but vigilant and practise preventive measures to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
