4 samples have been confirmed positive for COVID-19 out of the 300 samples tested at the UVRI on 5th April 2020

4 samples have tested positive for COVID-19 out of the 300 samples tested at the Uganda Virus Research Institute on 5th April 2020. 296 samples tested Negative.

This makes a total of 52 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Uganda.

All the 4 samples were travelers from abroad that were under quarantine, according to the Ministry of Health press release.

The new cases include a 22 year Ugandan male, resident of Kikokiro in Wakiso district, a 66 year old Ugandan female, resident of Luzira in Kampala, a 65 year old Ugandan female, resident of Jinja and a 26 year old Ugandan male, resident of Rubaga in Kampala.

All the new cases arrived from Dubai on 22nd March 2020 and did not show any signs and symptoms of COVID-19.

According to the Director General of Health Services Dr Henry Mwebesa, 377 individuals have been discharged from institutional quarantine. A total of 602 are under institutional quarantine while 834 contacts to the confirmed cases are under follow up.
