COVID-19 daily update 08-06-2020

Results from samples tested on 08 June 2020 confirm 11 new COVID-19 cases. The total number of confirmed cases is now 657. All new confirmed cases are Ugandans. 5 cases are truck drivers from Malaba and Elegu, while the other 6 cases are among contacts and alerts from Amuru and Kyotera Districts. All samples of health workers tested negative for COVID-19. Samples from Points of Entry tested were 1,412, 878 samples from alerts and contacts and 46 samples from health workers. 34 foreign truck drivers tested positive for COVID-19.

 According to Ministry of Health – Uganda, following a Presidential Directive of deducting all foreign truck drivers from Uganda’s case count, the confirmed COVID-19 cases now stands at 657. The total number of recoveries stands at 118 in Uganda. Uganda has NOT registered any COVID-19 related death, to date. Remember to wash your hands regularly and thoroughly with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water. Also, continue to follow WHO guidelines on social distancing, keep at least 4 meters from the individual nearest to you.
