Thursday, November 30, 2023, 10:00 UTC UNAIDS developed the 95-95-95 strategy to end the HIV/AIDS pandemic by 2030. “That means 95% of the people who are living with HIV know their HIV status, 95% of the people who know that they are living with HIV are on lifesaving antiretroviral treatment, and 95% of people who are on treatment are being virally suppressed.” (UNAIDS). Despite great success so far, challenges exist in achieving viral load (VL) suppression, especially among children and adolescents. The Eastern Africa Consortium for Clinical Trials (EACCR) conducted a novel intervention study that uses point-of-care HIV viral load monitoring to improve outcomes. Community and public engagement workshops and youth competitions were organized to co-develop effective communication and engagement strategies for disseminating the results and recommendations of the study.
