Uganda Virus Research Institute
The Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) is a government-affiliated biomedical research center in Entebbe focused on virology, epidemiology, and public health laboratory services. Established in the mid-20th century, UVRI has developed core capabilities in viral surveillance, diagnostic testing, and outbreak response for diseases such as yellow fever, Ebola, and Rift Valley fever. The institute combines laboratory-based research with field epidemiology to monitor endemic and emerging pathogens, support national disease control programs, and provide training for scientists and public health professionals.
