UVRI was paid a courtesy visit by a delegation from Ministry of Health Covid -19 task force to get updates on UVRI's COVID-19 activities. The delegation comprised of the Minister of Health Dr Ruth Aceng, the WHO country representative Dr Yonas Tegegn Woldemariam, the CDC country representative Dr. Lisa J. Nelson, the Permanent Secretary Dr. Diana Atwiine, Commissioner Laboratory services and Director CPHL Dr Susan Nabbada, the COVID-19 Incident commander Dr Henry Kyobe and other staff from CPHL.
They were received by the Director Prof Pontiano Kaleebu and the Deputy Director Dr Julius Lutwama. The meeting got updates on how samples are handled and how they are
delivered to UVRI and CPHL. They also discussed how results are transmitted, and the ways to improve results transmission to the Incident Commander. The group discussed
how to prepare for the expected work load as UVRI starts testing individuals crossing the border posts and those who entered the country since 7th March. The other area discussed was UVRI capacity and updates on availability of test kits and plans for procurement of kits for COVID-19 as UVRI prepares for more samples. The minister requested UVRI to send their COVID-19 budget to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health for its activities.
