
Twenty-One (21) new cases confirmed yesterday from 1,071 samples from various Points of Entry. All cases are Ugandan nationals from Elegu, Mutukula and Malaba points. All 253 community samples are negative for COVID-19. The COVID-19 confirmed cases are now 248. Please see attached a press release for details.
The International Health Regulations (IHR) requires that every case that is tested and confirmed for a particular disease should be registered as the host country’s case. Therefore, Uganda will capture all COVID-19 foreigners as her confirmed cases, bringing the total to 248 cases for Uganda.
According to Ministry of Health Uganda, the Government of Uganda continues to scale up COVID-19 testing in the country. The Central Public Health Laboratory (CPHL) received 15,000 test kits and testing started yesterday. CPHL is also dedicating one of its PCR machines for COVID-19 testing. The machine will carry out at least 3,000 tests per day. The total number of COVID-19 recoveries in Uganda is 63. Uganda has NOT registered any COVID-19 related death, to date.
Remember to wash your hands regularly and thoroughly with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water. Also, continue to follow WHO guidelines on social distancing, keep at least 4 meters from the individual nearest to you.
