
One (1) new COVID-19 case confirmed out of 2,729 samples of truck drivers tested: 39-year-old Kenyan male truck driver who arrived via Malaba. Efforts to track him are underway. 201 samples from community all tested negative for COVID-19. Total COVID-19 confirmed cases is now at 89. Total samples tested on 03/05/2020 is 2,930. The community case confirmed 02/05/2020, from Rakai District has been evacuated to Masaka RRH and his family members are under quarantine. Both Kenyan and Burundian truck drivers who were also confirmed earlier have also returned to their respective countries.
The International Health Regulations (IHR) requires that every case that is tested and confirmed for a particular disease should be registered as the host country’s case. Therefore, Uganda will capture all COVID-19 foreigners as her confirmed cases, bringing the total to 88 cases for Uganda. Total covid-19 recoveries in Uganda is 52. Uganda has NOT registered any COVID-19 related death, to date.
Remember to wash your hands regularly and thoroughly with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water. Also, continue to follow WHO guidelines on social distancing, keep at least 4 meters from the individual nearest to you.
