Uganda Virus Research Institute held its Quarterly PhD Fellows’ Meeting, an important platform for tracking progress, celebrating milestones, and addressing challenges along the PhD journey.
The meeting took place on 21st January 2026 in a hybrid format, with strong in-person participation from the fellows attached to different projects on the campus. Participants engaged in a thought-provoking session on “Navigating the PhD journey while simultaneously meeting professional work obligations,” led by Dr. Andrew Edielu
The discussion equiped PhD fellows with practical strategies for balancing doctoral training alongside professional responsibilities.
The fellows later broke out in smaller groups with their mentors to discuss challenges and share updates on their research journey.
This event is held every quarter and is an opportunity for the fellows to learn from a wide pool of knowledge shared from both lived student experience and documented community best practice guidance.
