The parliamentary Select Committee on STI visited the Uganda Virus Research Institute(UVRI) on Wednesday 1st December, 2021 to follow up on the vaccines investigations but also to understand what UVRI does. The team included; Hon. Kyooma Xavier, Hon. Awany Tony, Hon. Omara Paul, Hon. Silwany Solomon, Mwekwatse Sam, Kobere Betty, Bibabwa Rahma, and Malinga Titus.

In an effort to contribute to the global research efforts into COVID-19, a team based at Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI), Uganda, is participating in the ISARIC/ALERRT Clinical Characterisation Protocol (CCP) observational study. This protocol seeks to support a rapid, coordinated clinical investigation of confirmed cases of COVID-19.
The Capacity building for Female Scientist in East Africa (CAFÉ-SEA) is a project under the Eastern Africa Consortium for Clinical Research (EACCR), which is an EDCTP-funded network of excellence.
